The following provinces have implemented the Contraventions Act, enabling tickets to be given to anyone suspected of violating federal regulations:

• British Columbia
• Manitoba
• Ontario
• New Brunswick
• Nova Scotia
• PEI

Outside of the Contraventions Act, citizens can still be charged in the provinces that were not named, but under a different prosecution scheme. Some of the most common federal contravention charges seen are under the:

• Government Property Traffic Act (GPTA)
• Air Transportation Regulations (ATR)
• Canada Marine Act (CMA)
• Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA)
